Interesting reading here if you’re into this sort of thing. Bear in mind that the source is not exactly a bunch of floppy-necked CNN liberals.

If someone presents a serious primary challenge to Donald Trump, MSNBC will just give him more free screen time.

The media will decide whether any primary challenge is serious or not because we have abrogated our politics to the media.

Your usage of “abrogated” here is completely ungrammatical and yet still 100% depressingly correct.

What specifically do you mean by “a bunch of floppy-necked CNN liberals”? It sounds rather offensive.

Kinja'd!!!1

We have abrogated our electoral responsibility as citizens and allowed the media to fill the void .

That better?

Be offended if you choose to. The statement was intended to be provocative.

The point is that one would expect a headline that President Trump is susceptible to being primaried to come from the New York Times or WaPo or MSNBC or CNN, outlets pilloried as being abjectly liberally biased. The source I cite here is much less  of that, or I wouldn’t have posted it.

WaPo and NYT have a liberal bias?

Possible, but it’s going to be a very tough road. The RNC already dismissed the idea of a primary and merged with Trumps re-election campaign.

The whole thing reads like wishful thinking from one of his most outspoken critics.

It just so happens that Kristol is on the right and not the left.

I’d like to believe him, but I do not.

I think you read it exactly as I do. I only posted it because of Kristol’s rightiness.

There have always been a number of vocal critics of him on the right, but I think for any serious primary challenge to occur would require either the economy to go into recession very quickly or for impeachment to become a credible threat. Neither seems at all likely at the moment - and the latter requires Republican support.

Howling from the right about DNC's rigged primaries and then this. But then, since the Dems did it, then no worries here, right? Turnabout being fair play and all...

The primaries have never been 100% open. Americans dont understand or care to understand what they are signing up for when they join a party.

the parties have always put their thumb on the scales, it is just in the last 35 years it has always been a well ch oreographed fight. Both are happy to take 50% knowing it will push out any 3rd party candidate. because both parties saw in 2016, how things suddenly get shaken up when and outsider enters.

I take your point. What I am sick of is cable “news.” I am also sick of the general media frenzy that the current POTUS whips up just to make everything be about HIM. I really hate where we are as a nation right now politically with each side having its own set of morally corrupt “tricks” they pull to try and entrench their power, all the while calling the other side more corrupt. If you look at the Democratic field right now, all 23 of them, the entire race and standing right now is being determined by the media, who only report on the “top” 5 or so. And they’ll set who gets to participate  in the televised debates. And the electorate? People who park in front of a television and watch hours of drivel from phony talking heads. And then go out and argue the points amongst themselves, shouting at each other and past each other, a bunch of slogans they gathered from the media trough. Bloody awful.

I agree with you on every point. It all starts with a shit-stirring president that can’t take even a hint of criticism. In that respect and many others he makes my 5 year old neighbor boy look more mature. This man- child does not have the character befitting the office of the president.

And as you said the media plays a part, but how could they not? It gets them viewers. We among other traits should be placing a president in office that is a moral leader. Then from the top-down you get much less bullshit. In fact we are getting shit-barge blown in by a shit-tornado onto the shit-shore (or something like that, paraphrasing the late mr. Lahey ).

And a bunch of church goers worship him. I don’t get it. I’m as church-going as many people and it’s for that very reason  that I want that man gone.

Yeah, that’s a realization I had about the pro-life movement I had yesterday, they all approach this hateful and cruel approach to outlawing abortion. On top of that they convinced themselves it’s actually possible to end it by doing so.

I’ve been saying for years now that we should approach this with love, especially those that want to end abortions. First they need to be realistic and make reducing abortion their goal, but that’s a technicality .

But from what I’ve learned through a few church figures I respect, and what I feel is pretty common knowledge about the Christian faith, Jesus/God would want those people to approach this with love and kindness. Love thy neighbor, lead by example, make people wonder how they can be more like you.

I think the teachings of the bible, if they talked about abortion directly would encourage people to find ways to make it less necessary. Through love, support, resources, education, etc, etc. Not through laws, prison sentences, literal killing of mothers, etc.

So yes, how can anyone that claims to be a church goer, Christian or otherwise, be a fan of Trump. He is operating far outside of (moral) boundaries that their faith sets.
